Capital B

This grant supports Capital B, a national newsroom that combines local service reporting, national explanatory journalism, and community engagement for Black American audiences. This grant maintains editorial independence for the newsroom and is intended only to provide general operating support.

Capital B is a national, nonprofit news organization that focuses on Black communities. Capital B seeks to address the decline in local news in Black communities and the media’s limited reach into these communities. This grant will enable Capital B to further its efforts to center Black voices, needs, and experiences in local news coverage across the country.
